Erev Election Day

Tomorrow is election day and in Israel it is a work holiday for many businesses. Perhaps this is because voters need all of their available energy and concentration to choose among the several dozen parties on the ballot. I realized that by 4 pm, nearly everybody had left Sheafutim; there were few passengers on the train from Bet Yohoshua; the usual stop and go traffic on the Ayalon expressway was a little more go and a lot less stop. Could it be that because traditional Jewish holidays begin at sundown this election-related holiday also begins the night before?
