We alighted from the #5 sherut at the corner of Ben-Gurion and Dizengoff for the short walk down Ben-Gurion to Ben-Gurion’s Tel Aviv home, now a museum. One cannot help but be impressed by the stature of this first Prime Minister of Israel. His extensive library for the 5 or 6 languages that he knew shows his interest in reaching others and the numerous gifts and correspondence shows the interest of the world in reaching him during those historic days of early Israel.
I do not dream of and do not love war And I still believe—more than before the possibility of a state was created—that after we become numerous and strong in the country, the Arabs will understand that it is best for them to strike an alliance with us, and to benefit from our help, provided they allow us, in good will to settle in all parts of of Palestine…the Jews can be equal allies, true friends, and not occupiers and oppressors.
